In May 2024, there was a year-on-year (y-o-y) inflation rate in Sorong Regency of 4.12 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.87.

The year-on-year inflation occurred due to price increases indicated by the rising index of expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverages, and tobacco group by 10.03 percent; the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.39 percent; the health group by 3.83 percent; the food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 0.59 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 2.34 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced a decline in the index were: the clothing and footwear group by 0.67 percent; the household equipment, appliance, and routine household maintenance group by 2.45 percent; the transportation group by 0.31 percent; and the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.03 percent. The recreation, sports, and culture group and the education group did not experience any changes.

The month-to-month (m-o-m) inflation rate in Sorong Regency for May 2024 was 0.55 percent. Meanwhile, the year-to-date (y-t-d) inflation rate in Sorong Regency for May 2024 was 2.10 percent.
