Abstract

In January 2025, there was year-on-year (y-on-y) deflation in Sorong Regency of 0.59 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 102.64. The y-on-y deflation occurred due to a decrease in prices as indicated by a decrease in the expenditure group index, namely: clothing and footwear group by 0.27 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 16.63 percent; household equipment, tools, and routine maintenance group by 7.85 percent; health group by 0.54 percent; transportation group by 0.29 percent; information, communication, and financial services group by 0.01 percent; and personal care and other services group by 0.88 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the index were: food, beverages, and tobacco group by 4.72 percent; education group by 0.69 percent; and the food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 0.89 percent. Meanwhile, the recreation, sports, and culture group did not experience any changes. The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate and the year-to-date (y-to-d) deflation rate of Sorong Regency in January 2025 were each 1.65 percent.
